Finally the built in gallery function of the website platform WordPress 3.5 is working as a gallery should. Instead of the old post connected gallery, which would only work with newly added media, the galleries can now add images directly from the Media Library from the Add Media button. This enables images to be reused and easily changed over time, without uploading duplicates into the library.
Behind the scenes the ids of the galleries are included in the new syntax:
[ gallery link=”file” ids=”38,39″ ]
To be compared with the previous syntax necessary to add media from the library:
[ gallery include=”38,39″ ]
But now this syntax is not necessary to know since the galleries can be handled in full from the Add Media button. A good step in the right direction for the platform.
